That common interest is evidenced in the association name – Independent Electrical Contractors.  IEC has built a reputation as the premier trade association for America’s “independent” electrical contractors, aggressively working with industry to establish a free environment for merit shop.  Many  “Open Shop” electrical contractors are finding it more difficult to voice their concerns within the electrical industry. With the increasing number of regulatory reforms, unfair labor practices, and the difficulty of finding skilled employees, it is becoming ever more challenging to maintain a large profit margin within the industry. Through a proven track record, IEC continues to assist its members by providing a means of maintaining a successful business.

Over 85% of the electrical contractors in the country follow the independent philosophy. As one of the largest segments of the construction industry, it is our business to be heard.
